Nightfall on Rondovo: the shared screen during a game

The best games like Among Us are Goose Goose Duck (free, up to 16 players), Town of Salem 2 (free, up to 15), Lockdown Protocol and Project Winter if you want a paid game with more to do, and Wolvesville on mobile. If your group would rather play in a browser with no install, try a free Mafia or Werewolf site, Secret Hitler online, or ProAvalon. And if you are all in one room, the oldest version of the idea still works: Mafia with a deck of cards or a screen each.

Among Us itself is still going strong, so this list is about variety rather than replacements. We sorted the options by what you actually want from them, with player counts and prices as listed on the official stores (US Steam prices, checked October 2026).

In short

  • Free and closest to Among Us: Goose Goose Duck (up to 16 players, PC, Mac and mobile).
  • Free, more talking than running around: Town of Salem 2 (up to 15) or Wolvesville (up to 16).
  • Paid, more depth: Lockdown Protocol ($9.99, up to 16), Project Winter ($9.99), Among Us 3D ($9.99, 4 to 10).
  • In a browser, nothing to install: secrethitler.io, ProAvalon, or a Mafia game where everyone joins with a code.
  • Same room, big group: Mafia or Werewolf, with cards or with Nightfall, our free take for 4 to 16 players.

What makes a game like Among Us?

Among Us is a social deduction game: a few players are secretly the bad guys, everyone else has to work out who, and the only real tool is talking. Innersloth's game adds a map, tasks and kill cooldowns, but the heart of it is the emergency meeting where someone says "I was in electrical, I swear".

Games that feel like it share three things:

  1. Hidden roles. You know your own role, not anyone else's.
  2. A vote. The group throws someone out based on argument, not proof.
  3. Something to do between votes, whether that is tasks on a spaceship, a night phase, or answering questions.

How much of the third part you want decides which game suits you. Some groups love the running around. Others find it gets in the way of the talking, and prefer pure deduction games like Mafia, where the conversation is the whole game.

Among Us facts, as of October 2026

  • Players: 4 to 15 in a lobby.

A few honest notes:

  • Dread Hunger shows up on many older lists. It is no longer sold on Steam, and official server support ended in January 2024.
  • Project Winter has a free entry pass on Steam alongside the paid game, so check the store before you buy.
  • Mobile free games come with ads and paid cosmetics. That is the price of free; it does not stop you playing.

Free games like Among Us

Goose Goose Duck

The closest free match. Geese do tasks, ducks sabotage and eat geese, and a long list of extra roles (the Pelican, the Dodo, the Vulture) gives every game a new problem. Up to 16 players, on PC, Mac, iOS and Android. If your group already likes Among Us, this is the easiest switch.

Town of Salem 2

Pure Mafia, no map. Town, Mafia and neutral roles each take a night action, then the day is all argument. Up to 15 players. The base game is free, with paid packs. It suits groups who liked the meetings in Among Us more than the tasks.

Wolvesville

A Werewolf game for up to 16 players on mobile and PC, with voice chat and dozens of roles. Free, with ads and in-app purchases. Good for playing with strangers; with friends, make a private room.

Suspects: Mystery Mansion

A free mobile game with a 3D mansion, tasks and accusations, 10 players per match. It plays faster than Among Us and the matches are short.

Among Us like games online in a browser

If nobody wants to install anything, these run in a browser tab:

  • secrethitler.io is a free, ad-free fan site for Secret Hitler: liberals against fascists, with a hidden leader. The board game is 5 to 10 players and is also released free as a print-and-play under a Creative Commons licence.
  • ProAvalon is a free online version of The Resistance: Avalon for 5 to 10 players. Merlin knows the spies but cannot be too obvious about it.
  • Blood on the Clocktower has an online app in early access through the designers' Patreon; check their site for current access.
  • Rondovo's Nightfall runs Mafia in any browser. One person hosts, everyone joins with a four letter code, and the night actions happen on each person's own screen. More on it below.

Among Us like games with voice chat

Goose Goose Duck, Wolvesville and Lockdown Protocol are built around talking in the game, so check each one's voice settings before a session. For browser games, put everyone on a video call first. That is how Mafia online is meant to be played anyway: you want to see faces during the vote.

Social deduction games for large groups

Among Us tops out at 15. If you have more people, or want a game for a party where everyone is in the same room, you need something that scales.

Group sizeGood picks
4 to 6Odd One Out, Spyfall, One Night Ultimate Werewolf (3 to 10)
6 to 10Secret Hitler, Avalon, Mafia, Goose Goose Duck
10 to 16Mafia or Nightfall, Town of Salem 2, Wolvesville
16 to 20Blood on the Clocktower, or Mafia with a human narrator
20 and moreSplit into two games, or play a team game like Spy Grid

For a bigger crowd, our guide to party games for large groups has more options beyond deduction.

Social deduction games without a board or cards

Mafia, Werewolf and Spyfall all work with nothing but people and a few slips of paper. For Mafia, deal playing cards: a black ace for each Mafia, a red king for the Doctor, a red queen for the Detective, and number cards for the town. Our full guide on how to play Mafia explains the narrator's script, and our guide to Spyfall has 60 locations you can use without the box.

Among Us like games offline and in person

Among Us was always best when everyone shouted at each other in the same room. To get that in person:

  • Mafia or Werewolf with a narrator, any number from 6 up. No kit needed.
  • One Night Ultimate Werewolf (3 to 10 players, about 10 minutes, from Bezier Games): one night, one vote, done.
  • The Resistance: Avalon (5 to 10 players, about 30 minutes): missions instead of murders, so nobody sits out.
  • Secret Hitler (5 to 10): print it free or buy the box.

The common problem in person is the narrator. Somebody has to sit out to run the night, and they have to remember who did what. That is the main reason we built Nightfall.

Nightfall, Odd One Out and Spy Grid: our own takes

Rondovo is a free site of party games where one person hosts a room and everyone joins on their own screen. Three of our games fit here. They are our own designs, not versions of the branded games above.

Nightfall: Mafia with no narrator

Nightfall is Mafia for 4 to 16 players, about 20 minutes. Everyone checks a secret role on their screen. At night the Mafia choose a target, the Detective checks a player and the Doctor protects someone, all silently on their own screen, while villagers record a suspicion so nobody can tell who is acting. At dawn you see what happened, talk, and vote.

The host can set the number of Mafia (one per four players is the recommended default), switch the Detective and Doctor on or off, and change the timers: 45 seconds for night, 3 minutes of discussion (4 minutes with 10 or more players) and 45 seconds to vote. Nobody has to sit out as narrator, and a TV is optional. On a video call, everyone opens the room on their own device and picks "Just this screen"; with no TV connected, the narration comes to every player's screen, so nobody has to share theirs.

Where it is weaker than Among Us: there are no tasks, no map, and no running around. It is a conversation game. If your group liked Among Us for the action, Goose Goose Duck or Lockdown Protocol will suit you better.

Odd One Out: the impostor who does not know it

In Odd One Out, for 4 to 12 players, everyone gets the same secret word except one player (the host can make it two once seven or more play), who gets a related word. Nobody knows which group they are in. You type hints, discuss, and vote. It is quick, about 15 minutes for three rounds, and works well with people who do not enjoy lying outright.

Spy Grid: two teams, no lying

Spy Grid is a team word game for 4 to 16 players. Two handlers give one word clues to steer their team to the right words on a 5 by 5 grid and away from the trap. It has no hidden traitors, but it is the game to reach for when you have 14 people and want everyone in. If a lighter icebreaker suits the room better, Two Truths gets everyone talking without anyone being eliminated.
